What materials do you use?

We predominantly use MDF to build the client’s bespoke furniture. The reasons we use this engineered wood is down to its durability and versatility. Engineered wood is hard to crack or flex and is generally smooth meaning it is easier to sand, prime and paint without having to worry about knots in the finished product.

Do you work off site or on site?

Due to the nature of bespoke carpentry and that it is fitted precisely to the client’s space no matter how wonky the ceiling, walls and floors may be we always build and fit on-site. However we pre-cut the wood off-site in our workshop and have this delivered to your home which does help to reduce the amount of dust and noise in your home. We do keep disruption to a bear minimum as we are very aware that more and more people are also working from home so we arrange things to get your work done as efficiently and quickly as possible.

What is the lead time?

We pride ourselves on our efficiency and time keeping. We are aware that our clients want the units to be built and installed as quickly as possible with no time wasted and that’s what we endeavour to do on each project. Depending on the size and complexity of the carpentry work we begin and complete within a satisfactory time frame whilst keeping the room tidy.

How do I get a Quote?

Once your enquiry has been answered either by phone or email or both:

We book you in to measure up the space and go over your plans for your new furniture – discussing all options.
Following on from there we will send you a full and detailed quotation.
Once you’ve decided to go ahead your job will be scheduled in for the next available time.
We will ask you for a 20% deposit and once this is paid we will send you drawings of your piece. At this time you have the opportunity to make any adjustments you want to your design; we will revise the drawings until you fully approve of them.

  Fantastic carpentry work from BSL, we would highly recommend their services for any custom woodworking jobs you require.

My partner and I have used BSL for two jobs this year as we have been so impressed with the service, including bookshelves either side of the fireplace in our sitting room, and then the most recent job for a built in wardrobe in our bedroom, and some drawers and cupboard space in a particularly tricky spot on our landing (see photos for the odd angles BSL worked in, but they don't show the truly tricky nature of our property!).

Carpentry works were finished within 2 days and the team worked well in our confined spaces. We had to clear most of our furniture from the respective rooms but they were happy for our bed to stay in the room which was a huge relief. Painting then took 3 days, plus an extra day for refitting of doors and drawers once the paint had dried. Painting is to an exceptionally high quality, too.

Our only feedback for BSL is on communication that was a bit here and there at times. The team were always polite and aimed to help, but our schedule wasn't quite established at the outset which left us a bit unsure when our cupboards would be completed. That said, the team did go above and beyond and came to our property on a Sunday to make final adjustments before we had guests arriving that evening.

  I was extremely impressed by the professionalism and high level of workmanship of Bespoke Carpentry London, which realised a large bookcase for our living room (photo) and a wardrobe spanning a similarly sized wall in a bedroom. The entire process was well managed, from the renderings to the cost estimates to the final installation. I was particularly impressed by the level of craftsmanship among the teams of carpenters, who built everything onsite and adapted to the many quirks of our old flat, which include unlevel floors, walls, and ceilings. I was equally impressed by the company's painter, whose meticulous work allowed the quality of the carpentry to shine through.
