20 Ideas for the spaces beside chimney, fire place and alcove (recessed ) walls
It is Tonie, the Senior Designer, I wanted to share some our latest ideas and visions from our clients on what they wanted designed and built in their alcove spaces, ( each side of the chimney breast ).
 Cabinets and Shelving UnitÂ
Very traditional style in keeping with Victorian homes with shaker doors.
Cupboards with floating shelvesÂ
Great option if you are looking for a modern vibe with plain doors.
Asymmetrical
You can do anything you like in these type of designs – I like to call it your creative wall.
WardrobesÂ
We can do floor to ceiling wardrobes if the height is no more than 250 cm. When doors are over  250 cm high, it becomes to heavy on the door hinges.
Wardrobes with top boxes – any heightÂ
This design is very popular especially in Victorian style homes. This client choose to go below the cornice to keep the room’s attractions.
TV Unit
It is hard to find furniture that is not built-in to nicely fit into these awkward spaces.Â
Hide your TV with pocket doorsÂ
Want to hide your TV sometimes? We can insert pocket doors that slide in.
Bench seatÂ
Bench seat with storage and extra space for guest seating is a great utilisation of space.
Bar with glass inserts on doorsÂ
Very unique design with glass inserts on cabinet doors, mirror on the back to reflect the bottles and client sourced the upside down glass holders and we installed them
DJ station and vinyl storageÂ
Need a space to play your tunes, we can build you your customised DJ station with the right needed hight for your standing position and design shelves that fit your vinyl records. We could even have a pull out desk tray if needed.
Pull out desk tray
A pull out desk tray is a great way to have a hide away desk, we have different options for this depending on your home office needs,
Home officeÂ
Design your room, how you need it, this client utilised her space wisely by having an L shape desk. We can also do flaoting desks with drawers.
Radiator covers
Whether you would like a radiator grill cover or want to have traditional doors we can also have radiator grill on the inserts of the doorsÂ
Doggie homeÂ
Include a doggie home in your alcove spaces, more options for design potential here, with wooden bars instead of cage.
Angled cabinet
If your desired TV does not fit the width of the alcove space, we can angle the cabinet creating more depth so it can prop nicely with good TV viewing.
Show stopper with lightingÂ
Oh la la, great lighting design lighting up the cornice and LED strip lights on the shelving. We did not do the lighting but we worked closely with Jack one of our preferred electricians.
Mix drawers with doorsÂ
Store everything you need in a way that suits you, nice selection of cabinet doors with drawers.
BespokenessÂ
Need to put a specific item in your alcove cubpoards ? Just let us know the size of these items and we will ensure we design this based on this.
Rustic lookÂ
We can offer a few styles of wooden worktop choices so you can jazz up your desks or cabinet tops. This worktop is Walnut.
Match existing unitÂ
The furthest left alcove unit was already there, this homeowner wanted us to match the look and feel of this, we can never give an exact match but we. can certainly go quite similar to existing units.
Season up your chimney breastsÂ
This was purely done for fun with the magic touch of Aoyama flowers.
